- Solomon Voss
An imperial remembrancer who lived and worked during the Solar reclamation and the Great Crusade.
[It's very interesting how many things or people are named Voss in 40k]
["The Last Remembrancer", John French, (Short Story)] - Avellorn
A planet in the Segmentum Solar
[allegedly mentioned in "Codex: Chaos Space Marines (8th Edition)"] - Voss Prime
A forge world in the Segmentum Solar, called the Right hand of Mars
[Page 23 in "Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus (8th Edition)"] - Augean RT-56
A caterpillar used during the great Crusade e.g. by Ilya Ravallion on Ullanor
["Brotherhood of the Storm", Chris Wraight, (Novella)]
[MY version auf the Augean is based on the Hägglunds Bv 206, a Swedish-designed articulated, tracked amphibious vehicle. It's so adorable!] - Ursh
A nation-state on Terra before Unification was achieved.
["Horus Rising", Dan Abnett, (Novel)] - Logisticae
The first predecessor of the Departementum Munitiorum
["Brotherhood of the Storm", Chris Wraight, (Novella)] - Eternity Gate
The main gate to the Inner Sanctum of the Imperial palace on Terra
[a.o. "The Lost and the Damned", Guy Haley, (Novel)]
[The gate also having a bell tower sounds quite suitable to me] - Maximus Thane
Legendary Imperial Fist, Chapter Master of the Fists Exemplar, the newly rebuilt Imperial Fists and later Lord Commander of the Imperium.
[I assume him to have been the first Grandmaster of the VIIth legion since there is no name given for this position in the pre-Rogal Dorn era. The accolades of Maximus make this a justifiable conclusion for me.]
[a.o. "The Lost and the Damned", Guy Haley, (Novel)] - Asiatic dust fields
A region of Terra during the Age of Strife and the Unification wars, said to be in constant warfare with the Yndonesian Bloc.
[I tried to find a region on Earth that would match the name and the very brief description we have in the lore: very dry and close to south-east asia. So I decided to go for the Sichuan region in China. It's close to the Himalazians, a dry spot with extreme temperature changes and could have bordered the Yndonesian bloc. ]
[Horus Heresy Book Three - Extermination] - Arkhas Fal
Arkhas Fal was a Terran born legionnaire of the XIXth Legion. He commanded the Legion for three decades as Shade Lord.
[Arkhas was a grim, pragmatical and sometimes outright cruel individual. Quite fitting for a former techno-barbarian]
[Horus Heresy Book Three - Extermination] - Pale Nomads
One of the unofficial names of the XIXth legion (and/or) company names in it's pre-primarch era. Another one being Ashen Claws.
[I find it especially funny that more dark-skinned desert people becam pale after being initiated into the Legion because of Corvus' gene-seed. I also took the names given as originating from the Xeric tribal names.]
[Horus Heresy Book Three - Extermination]
Ave, my fellow sisters and brothers! This blog is designated to all of us who love the lore of Warhammer 40k, especially those fond of the Unification War and the early Horus Heresy. I personally love to visualize things when reading Warhammer novels and lore, and I use self-made character pictures, battle maps and other art to get a real picture of all the things that are left open between the lines ...
